There is nothing more gratifying than watching young women learn and own the fact that they have the power to create stories and share their perspectives with the world by using their creativity.
My organization Create Louder had our expressive photography workshop for teen girls in my home town Decatur, Georgia a few weeks back. We talked about the work of photographers like Sheila Pree Bright, Lorna Sampson , and Carrie Mae Weems and how young black women have the power to share their perspectives of the world through the arts and creativity.
